Hosted MCP setup

This milestone ships a local development-only MCP server — there is no public mcp.getratesapi.com origin yet. Run it yourself:

Binding

cmd/mcp binds 127.0.0.1:MCP_PORT only (MCP_PORT env var, default 8082). It is not exposed publicly in this milestone.

Auth

Every MCP request requires the same Authorization: ApiKey <key> header as REST — there is no separate MCP-only credential. See Authentication / API keys to obtain a key.

Client configuration

A generic MCP client needs only:

  • Endpoint: http://127.0.0.1:8082/mcp (local dev default)
  • Header: Authorization: ApiKey <your-api-key>

This is the generic shape — no specific third-party MCP client integration is verified or endorsed by this repository; adapt it to whatever MCP client you use.
